Chapter 4

“So what were you doing at the office this week?” Blake asked as he looked at Cassie. Every time he passed his hand along her face she flinched. She said she fell in the bathroom, but instinct told him that she wasn’t telling him the truth.

“I went to check an old colleague of mine. Is that a problem?”

“Did that old colleague happen to be Dean?”

Cassie looked him straight in the eye. “Yes, as a matter of fact it was? And I repeat is there a problem?”

“Of course there’s a problem,” Blake said, getting up from the sofa. He began to pace. “Especially since there’s a rumor going around the office that something happened between the two of you. Did something happen between the two of you?”

Blake knew that more than just ‘something’ had happened since Dean resigned from the firm claiming that he got a better offer somewhere else. He knew that it was no coincidence that Cassie was in his office the same week that he resigned.

“Yes,” Cassie said, still looking at him straight his eyes, her gaze not wavering.

“When we started this I made it quite clear that I am the only man that you are supposed to sleep with did I not? I’m assuming you had sex with him?”

Even though Blake knew the answer, he still cringed when she answered yes.

Blake exhaled deeply. He wanted to know more he needed to know more.

“You know that you disobeyed me right? It means one of two things. One that I tell you to leave and this right here and now..”

“No, you can’t do that!!” Cassie said, looking at him with those big puppy dog eyes of hers.

Blake held up his hands for her to be quiet, which she did. “Or two you can be punished. But before I give you that chance of choosing I would like to hear exactly what happened, especially with your face and don’t give me any cock and bull story about slipping in the bathroom. I’m no fool Cassie. You either be straight with me now or you can leave now.”

He watched as Cassie inhaled deeply and then told him exactly what happened. That she and Dean met at the bar, then they headed to the bed and breakfast. How she had hid the camera in the flowers and told him one of her fantasies was to be held down while having sex which made it look so convincing that she was being raped. She went to the office and showed him the tape, telling him that he needed to leave or she would expose him.

Blake sank into the sofa. Never would he have expected that from Cassie, but she had put herself in danger and he didn’t know how to deal with that.

“Cassie,” he said firmly, “Don’t you think I would have been able to handle Dean on my own? Don’t you think that I am capable of handling my own affairs? Why did you have to put yourself in danger? What
